Softball Recap: Waterloo Wins Going Away Against Triad

Waterloo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Triad on Monday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aidan Dintelman was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Brown was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Sam Juelfs was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Waterloo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Triad, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.

Coming up, Waterloo will take on Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Triad, they will face off against Civic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
