Softball Game Preview: Conner Cougars vs. Ryle Raiders

The Conner Cougars will head out to square off against the Ryle Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Conner's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Conner didn't have quite enough to beat Harrison County and fell 3-2.

Conner saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryanne Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Ryle fell victim to Oldham County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Colonels. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since March 21st.

Ryle's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Conner, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6-2.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Conner hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ryle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Conner beat Ryle 13-10 in their previous matchup last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
