Basketball Game Preview: Mesick Bulldogs vs. Traverse City Christian Sabres

Mesick hasn't had much luck against Traverse City Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mesick Bulldogs will square off against the Traverse City Christian Sabres at 7:30 p.m.

Mesick is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Pentwater on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mesick was dealt a 60-33 loss at the hands of Pentwater. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 681st, while the Falcons are ranked 262nd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Issac Stroh, who posted 11 points. Landon Hall was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Traverse City Christian came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Gladiators by a score of 66-55.

Traverse City Christian is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Mesick, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Mesick couldn't quite finish off Traverse City Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2021 and fell 62-59. Thankfully for Mesick, Brock Broderick (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
