Laney has gone 9-1 against Topsail recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Laney will be strutting in after a win while Topsail will be coming in after a defeat.

Laney will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against North Brunswick on Monday. The Buccaneers put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 9-0 victory. Laney might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Topsail came up short against Hoggard on Monday and fell 4-2. While losing is never fun, Topsail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Hoggard are ranked fifth).

Laney is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those nine contests. As for Topsail, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8-5.

Everything went Laney's way against Topsail when the teams last played back in April, as Laney made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
