Pearland had won eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 9-0 to make it nine. They came out on top against the Shadow Creek Sharks by a score of 21-14. For the Oilers, this counts as revenge for the 41-28 victory the Sharks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Ja'Maurey Champion continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 171 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pearland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 223 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

As for Shadow Creek, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Shadow Creek saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaylen Addai picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 167 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Addai.

Coincidentally, Pearland and Shadow Creek will both be playing South Houston the next time they take the field. The Sharks will host the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Oilers will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on November 6.
