Recap: Needville Bluejays vs. El Campo Ricebirds
The Needville Bluejays entered their tilt with the El Campo Ricebirds with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Needville walked away with a 42-29 win over the Ricebirds on Tuesday. Given Needville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Ricebirds are ranked 785th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Needville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bohdan Zeitz led the charge by scoring 15 points. Keilan Sweeny was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and six steals.
Needville's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for El Campo, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17.
Needville will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sealy is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for El Campo, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
