Basketball Recap: Wilby Takes a Loss

Wilby suffered their closest loss since March 7, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Seymour Wildcats by a score of 64-61. Wilby was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Seymour apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Joey Carrafiello continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seymour, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. The game was Carrafiello's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robby Carrafiello, who posted 12 points.

Wilby has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Seymour, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-6.

Wilby will head out to square off against Ansonia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Seymour, they will welcome Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
