Baseball Game Preview: Windber Ramblers vs. Rockwood Rockets

For the first time this season, Windber will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Rockwood Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Windber will be strutting in after a win while Rockwood will be coming in after a defeat.

Windber is headed out to face Rockwood after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Windber put the hurt on Shanksville Stonycreek with a sharp 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The Ramblers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lucas Rummel was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Oleksa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Connor Turnbull was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Windber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shanksville Stonycreek only posted an OBP of .222.

Meanwhile, Rockwood didn't have quite enough to beat Greater Johnstown on Monday and fell 5-3.

Max Trimpey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Nathan Show, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
