Basketball Game Preview: Dan River Wildcats vs. William Campbell Generals

The Dan River Wildcats will face off against the William Campbell Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dan River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully William Campbell likes a good challenge.

Dan River is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 92-68 margin over Altavista on Monday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Colonels are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jameer Reynolds continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Farmer, who went 6 for 12 to rack up 13 points along with six boards and five assists.

Dan River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

William Campbell played in conference for the first time on Monday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They skirted past Chatham 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Generals have posted since December 4, 2024.

William Campbell's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-15. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for Dan River, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Dan River against William Campbell when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 70-40 win. Does Dan River have another victory up their sleeve, or will William Campbell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
