Basketball Recap: Buffalo Falls Short Against Ranked Douglas

On Friday, Buffalo faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Buffalo Bison fell just short of the Douglas Bearcats by a score of 51-49. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-51 back in January.

Buffalo's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Konnor Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in rebounds. Ryan Nicholas was another key player, going 7-for-16 en route to 17 points.

Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Buffalo has already played their next matchup, a 54-41 defeat against Cody on the 22nd. Douglas has also already played their next contest (against Glenrock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
