Basketball Recap: Bovina Comes Up Short

Bovina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 91-24 loss at the hands of the Farwell Steers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 959th, while the Steers are ranked 38th).

Farwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Jaime, who went 8 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points. Those 28 points gave Jaime a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landri Richey, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Bovina's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Farwell, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 29-3.

Bovina will face off against Lockney at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Farwell, they will take on Olton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Olton is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Farwell a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
