Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Skates Past Hillside with Ease

Chapel Hill won the last time they faced Hillside and things went their way on Saturday too. The Chapel Hill Tigers breezed by the Hillside Hornets to the tune of 73-38. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Chapel Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Smith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. What's more, Smith also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Dezariyah Clark was another key player, going 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Chapel Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 48 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Hillside still got an impressive performance from Mckenzy Green, who posted 20 points and five rebounds.

Chapel Hill pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Hillside, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Chapel Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-36 victory against Jordan on the 31st. Hillside has also already played their next game, a 35-29 win against Riverside-Durham on the 27th.
