Basketball Recap: Abby Sayer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Weber over Fremont

Weber fought the good fight in their overtime match against Fremont on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fremont Silverwolves. The Warriors lost against the Silverwolves in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 53-25 score last time.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abby Sayer, who posted 19 points. Bradey Schiffman was another key player, putting up eight points and 15 boards.

Fremont found their leader in sophomore Abigail Christensen, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The game was Christensen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mia Mcarthur, who earned ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Weber and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Fremont, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Weber will challenge Layton at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fremont, they will face off against Syracuse at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Fremont surely won't give up without a fight.
