Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Arizona College Prep Knights
The Shadow Mountain Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Arizona College Prep Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shadow Mountain comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Monday, Shadow Mountain was the victim of a rough 49-27 defeat at the hands of Combs.
Despite the loss, Shadow Mountain saw an underclassman step up: Cheyenne Hanna scored nine points along with seven steals. Hanna hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Arizona College Prep came up short against Flowing Wells on Monday and fell 43-34. While losing is never fun, Arizona College Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Flowing Wells is ranked 49th).
Shadow Mountain's defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.9 points per game. As for Arizona College Prep, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Shadow Mountain was taken down by Arizona College Prep 76-21 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Shadow Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
