Baseball Recap: Copperas Cove Takes a Loss

If Copperas Cove was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Llano last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Copperas Cove fell just short of the Cooper Cougars by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldawgs in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Matai Anzaldua led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jirah Anzaldua also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Copperas Cove's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for Cooper, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Copperas Cove will head out on the road to square off against Shoemaker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cooper, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cleburne at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
