Artesia faced Carlsbad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bulldogs came up short against the Cavemen/Cavegirls, falling 10-1. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Artesia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Apodaca, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Artesia's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Carlsbad, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cavemen/Cavegirls beat Artesia by a score of 7-2 later that day.
