Softball Recap: Sunnyside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Sunnyside entered their tilt with Marana on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-9 two weeks ago.

Ashley Rosthenhausler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Soleil Ponce was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kasandra Alcaraz, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Sunnyside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.

Sunnyside's record is now 18-6-1. As for Marana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Sunnyside will venture away from home to face off against Rincon/University at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.75 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Point at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
