Baseball Recap: Duchesne Has No Trouble Against North Summit

With a playoff win on the line, Duchesne rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the North Summit Braves 15-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-4 victory back in April.

Connor Karren made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Duchesne is 3-1 when Karren posts two or more runs, but 9-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nashden Goodliffe was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Duchesne: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-13 otherwise. Rylann Butler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI.

Duchesne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Duchesne's record is now 12-14. As for North Summit, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Duchesne wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-5 loss against San Juan on the 6th. North Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
