2015 Kansas Preseason Football Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. East (Shawnee Mission)

Coach: Dustin Delaney
2014 finish: 13-0
Team preview

It's been a pretty good start to the Dustin Delaney era at East. In his first season, Delaney earned State Coach of the Year honors after leading East to its first Class 6A state title game appearance. Last year, Delaney and East followed up with an undefeated 13-0 season and the school's first title in its history. A ton of seniors have graduated, but some talent remains in the form of all-league running back Wyatt Edmisten and linebacker Rider Terry.

Coach: Alan Schuckman
2014 finish: 13-0

Bishop Carroll still has to be considered the favorite to win the Class 5A state championship in Kansas, after all it has won two of the past three state titles and it has a record of 123-19 over the past 11 seasons. However coach Alan Schuckman will have to get the job done with a cast of young players, as a number of sophomores are expected to vie for starting roles this season. Only five starters return for the Golden Eagles, although Schuckman says that many returning players got playing time last year since the team won by an average of 47 points per game.

3. Andale
Coach: Gary O'Hair
2014 finish: 13-0
Team preview

The Indians were one of five teams in Kansas to go 13-0 or better last year. Although Andale loses 21 seniors from last year's Class 4A-II team, including league MVPs Hank Eck and Jason Hermreck, a number of top players return. Among the eight returning starters include tight end Jeff Ast (6-foot-6, 260 pounds), offensive lineman Mark Hageman (5-11, 240) and running back Bo Knoblauch (6-0, 200).

4. Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission)
Coach: Jon Holmes
2014 finish: 13-0
Team preview

Ryan Willis has graduated after leading Bishop Miege to an undefeated season and a Class 4A-I state championship, but many of the other skill players on the team return. Leading rusher Dawson Downing is back after rushing for 1,955 yards and 31 touchdowns last year. Receivers Jafar Armstrong (53 catches, 1,205 yards) and Danny Murphy (34, 541) are also back. One of the top returning defenders is Kaelin Key, who led the team in tackles for loss (15) and sacks (7.5) last year.

5. Lawrence
Coach: Dirk Wedd
2014 finish: 5-5
Team preview

Lawrence may have only gone 5-5 last year, but the Lions return a number of all-league players and potential Division I prospects. Amani Bledsoe, a 6-5, 270-pound defensive end, is one of the top prospects in Kansas this year after earning All-Metro honors by the Kansas City Star. He's joined on the defensive line by Trey Georgie (6-5, 260), who is also a Division I prospect. Other returning all-league players include running back J.D. Woods and linebacker Price Morgan.
