Basketball Game Preview: Lago Vista Vikings vs. St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans

The Lago Vista Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lago Vista is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

If Lago Vista beats St. Stephen's Episcopal with 62 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Lago Vista secured a 62-58 W over Manor New Tech on Friday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Manor New Tech are ranked 1128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Henry Sisemore and Porter Herrod were among the main playmakers for Lago Vista as the former dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds and the latter went 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. What's more, Sisemore also racked up seven assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josh Bailey, who posted four points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Lago Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Stephen's Episcopal came up short against Fort Worth Country Day on Saturday and fell 63-50. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lago Vista pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Lago Vista came up short against St. Stephen's Episcopal when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 59-47. Can Lago Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
