Basketball Recap: Lake Mary Takes a Loss

Lake Mary and Spruce Creek squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Lake Mary had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Spruce Creek Hawks, falling 61-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered since January 10th.

Spruce Creek found their leader in sophomore Lillian Sanchez, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Sanchez has posted since back in January of 2024. Jade Parks was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Lake Mary and nudges their season record down to 17-9. As for Spruce Creek, the win got them back to even at 13-13.

Lake Mary wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-39 defeat against Ocoee on the 13th. As for Spruce Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-41 victory against DeLand on the 8th.
