Soccer Recap: Santa Fe Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Santa Fe won the last time they faced Whittier and things went their way on Thursday too. The Santa Fe Chiefs came out on top against the Whittier Cardinals by a score of 3-1. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 1125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Fe hit Whittier with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gabriel Pelayo, Benjamin Zamora, and Ethan Vizcarra.

Santa Fe's victory bumped their record up to 10-2-5. As for Whittier, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13-1.

Santa Fe has already played their next matchup (against El Rancho), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Whittier is taking a road trip to face off against California at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. California's last seven games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
