Baseball Recap: Channel Islands Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chaffey

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Channel Islands walked away with it. They blew past the Chaffey Tigers 15-2 on Tuesday. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gabriel Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Channel Islands: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 11-12 otherwise. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Isaiah Osuna was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Channel Islands is undefeated when Osuna posts two or more runs, but 9-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Chavez, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Channel Islands' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-13. As for Chaffey, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Channel Islands will square off against Norwalk at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. Chaffey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
