Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Manzano's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Manzano had won three straight home games and Daira Solis did her part to make it four on Wednesday. The Manzano Monarchs managed a 54-50 win over the Rio Grande Ravens thanks in part to Solis, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 19 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Despite the loss, Rio Grande still got an impressive performance from Sophia L?pez, who posted 17 points and six boards. That was a full 34% of Rio Grande's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Stefani Garrison also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Manzano has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Rio Grande, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Manzano wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-44 loss against West Mesa on the 16th. Rio Grande has also already played their next contest, a 52-46 defeat against Melrose on the 18th.
