Battle Mountain is 0-10 against Yerington since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Battle Mountain comes in on three and Yerington on seven.
While Battle Mountain's victory against Pershing County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Longhorns had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 8-6.
Keegan Peasnall was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Battle Mountain: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jacob Perrone was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Bundrock, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Yerington got the win against Incline on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brent Brinkley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nolan Landa, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Valor Angle was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Yerington pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Battle Mountain, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Battle Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Yerington in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 4-0. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
