Recap: South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs. Aiken Fighting Green Hornets

The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the South Aiken Thoroughbreds proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Fighting Green Hornets with a 40-36 victory. The victory was nothing new for South Aiken as they're now sitting on three straight.

South Aiken's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sumara Williams led the charge by scoring ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zanayia Harrison, who scored eight points.

Aiken's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azaria Sapp, who scored nine points along with four blocks and three steals. Norriyah Bradley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

South Aiken now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Aiken, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

South Aiken will take on North Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Augusta is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Aiken, they will face off against Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
