Baseball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. American Eagles

The Irvington Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the American Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Irvington didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Eden and fell 4-3.

Giovanni Pena was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Irvington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Walkup, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Walkup a new career-high.

Meanwhile, American was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington.

Irvington's record is now 4-8. As for American, their record is now 1-8.

Irvington beat American 5-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Irvington repeat their success, or does American has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
