Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks vs. Falcon Falcons

Cheyenne Mountain and Falcon are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Red-Tailed Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne Mountain is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Tuesday, Cheyenne Mountain earned a 53-45 victory over Pine Creek.

Among those leading the charge was James Dalsaso, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Dalsaso is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Treglia, who went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Falcon ended up a good deal behind Pueblo West on Saturday and lost 76-60. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cheyenne Mountain will need to focus on slowing down Isaak Lane, one of several Falcon players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamrin Lane, who posted 20 points.

Falcon now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cheyenne Mountain has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Cheyenne Mountain came up short against Falcon when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 67-62. Can the Red-Tailed Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
