Football Game Preview: Montbello Warriors vs. Aurora Central Trojans

Montbello is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aurora Central Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Montbello has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Aurora Central will arrive with three straight victories.

Montbello made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Denver East, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors fell just short of the Angels by a score of 22-19 on Saturday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Amari Williams, who rushed for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Zyaire Custis also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aurora Central). They breezed past Hinkley to the tune of 60-0 on Thursday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 54-point advantage.

Montbello's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Aurora Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Montbello was able to grind out a solid victory over Aurora Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 30-18. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
