Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cranston West

Cranston West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Sunday. They blew past the North Kingstown Skippers 13-1. Considering the Falcons have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.

Mia Crudale made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Siena Nardelli, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Baffoni, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cranston West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Kingstown only posted an OBP of .294.

Cranston West pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for North Kingstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Cranston West will head out to take on St. Raphael Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for North Kingstown, they will host Toll Gate at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
