Softball Recap: Northwood Chargers vs. Jordan-Matthews Jets
Northwood lost against Jordan-Matthews back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Northwood Chargers lost 11-4 to the Jordan-Matthews Jets. The defeat leaves the Chargers still looking for their first win of the season.
Jasmine Wichowski put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Wichowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Allison Bryant, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits Bryant has posted since back in April of 2024. Makenzie Robinson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Jordan-Matthews, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Coming up, Northwood will host Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwood has given up an average of 16.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Jordan-Matthews, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge Eastern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jordan-Matthews is facing Eastern Randolph at the right time seeing as Eastern Randolph is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
