Game recap: Defense comes up big in Oaks Christian's win over Venice

The defense contributed on the scoring end for Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.) bested Venice (Los Angeles, Calif.) 35-17.

After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter, the Lions led 28-7 at the half.

Oaks Christian expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. OC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by Brandon Dawkins to Owusu.

Dawkins and Owusu teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Owusu caught three touchdowns and Dawkins threw three. Owusu has now caught three touchdowns this season.

The Gondoliers' Alijah Lee was the standout player for his team. The junior running back caught one touchdown.



The loss comes after Venice defeated Sylmar 34-6 last week. With the win the Westlake Village school extended its winning streak to three games.

In a non-conference game next week Oaks Christian (3-0) takes on Chaminade, and Venice (1-2) will go up against Garfield also in a non-conference game.
