Oakdale has gone 9-1 against Manteca recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will challenge the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. Oakdale is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Oakdale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Bear Creek get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Mustangs not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 10-2).
Jaelyn Lee (UOP) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Lee (UOP) was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Lee (UOP) wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reese Donaldson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Jayci Volonte was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Manteca, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Armijo with a sharp 10-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Buffaloes have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Manteca also got a great performance from Isabel Tonna as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Tonna has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sienna Owen was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lauren Moncada, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Oakdale's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Manteca, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 20-8.
Oakdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Manteca in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
