Soccer Game Preview: Las Plumas vs. Corning

The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Corning Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Las Plumas took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Oroville with a sharp 4-1 win. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Tigers are ranked 1127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Las Plumas hit Oroville with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Matt Armstrong, Ethan YangPhiasy, Jose Rojas, and Jayden Newkirk.

Meanwhile, Corning hasn't lost a match since December 13, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Monday. They blew past Orland 4-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cardinals needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Las Plumas' victory bumped their record up to 12-3-2. As for Corning, their win bumped their record up to 14-1-4.
