Baseball Game Preview: Hardee Wildcats vs. Riverview Sarasota Rams

The Hardee Wildcats will challenge the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hardee challenged North Port on Friday. Hardee narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past North Port 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Hardee got a great performance from Wyatt Beattie as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Beattie has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ryland Beumel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hardee's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cody Rieder, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Braden River, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Rams seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Riverview Sarasota saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Sladek, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Sladek snagged this season.

Riverview Sarasota's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Hardee, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
