Basketball Recap: Coal Ridge Titans vs. Moffat County Bulldogs
Make it six blowout wins for the Coal Ridge Titans this season. They claimed a resounding 76-47 victory over Moffat County on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Coal Ridge had established a 25 point advantage.
Coal Ridge was led to victory by Ben Simons and Logan Simpson. Simons dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Simpson scored 23 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simpson has scored all season. Alex Cornejo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Moffat County had strong showings from Ian Champ hafey, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Hudson Jones, who scored 11 points. Champ hafey has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played.
The win was the third in a row for Coal Ridge, bringing their record for this year to 9-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Moffat County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coal Ridge will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moffat County, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
