Basketball Recap: Brackenridge Takes a Loss

Brackenridge played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 69-38 defeat at the hands of the Jefferson Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Brackenridge still got an impressive performance from Felton Nance, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points and six boards. Nance's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jude Mendez, who posted nine points.

Adrien Reyna was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds for Jefferson. Thanks to that strong game, Reyna now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. Trey Perez was another key player, going 8 for 17 to rack up 19 points.

Brackenridge's defeat dropped their record down to 8-27. As for Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a massive bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Brackenridge will head out to take on Seguin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seguin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Jefferson, they have already played their next contest, a 51-44 loss against Sam Houston on the 10th.
