Volleyball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Payson

Payson came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Longhorns also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

One reason for the win was Payson's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-8.

Payson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Windsong Burdette, who had eight digs. Those eight digs gave Burdette a new career-high.

Payson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive contests.

Payson's record now sits at 17-3. As for Bourgade Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coincidentally, Payson and Bourgade Catholic will both be playing Northwest Christian the next time they take the court. The Golden Eagles will head out to face the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Longhorns will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
