St. Mary took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Colorado Academy Mustangs with a sharp 69-46 win. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 67-56 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Cruz Artaechevarria had a dynamite game, shooting 62% from the field on his way to 20 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Lewis, who posted eight points and five steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: St. Mary's was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colorado Academy only racked up eight.

Colorado Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Eli Rockmore, who went 5-for-9 en route to 14 points. Connor Flaherty was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's will take on Coal Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Colorado Academy, they will face off against Holy Family at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
