After a string of three wins, St. Charles's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 9-5 to the Hazelwood West Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 11-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

St. Charles' loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Hazelwood West, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hazelwood West beat St. Charles by a score of 9-4 later that day.
