Kenedy took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Refugio, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 7-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Jaylen Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Madison Byron was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Kenedy's victory bumped their record up to 15-10-1. As for Refugio, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenedy will venture away from home to square off against Pettus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Refugio, they will head out on the road to take on Port Aransas at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th.
