Basketball Game Preview: Avon Orioles vs. Fishers Tigers

Avon is 0-10 against Fishers since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Avon Orioles will face off against the Fishers Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Avon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Avon lost to Franklin Central on the road by a 58-41 margin. The Orioles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Avon got top-tier performance from Makaylee Butts, who posted 22 points. What's more, Butts also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Mya Thompson was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Avon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Fishers' and Carmel's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Fishers turned on the heat in the second half with 32 points. Everything went Fishers' way against Carmel as Fishers made off with a 60-36 victory.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Fishers, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.

Things could have been worse for Avon, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-50 loss to Fishers in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Avon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
