Basketball Recap: Mission Bay Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Scripps Ranch last Friday, Mission Bay came back down to earth. The Mission Bay Buccaneers fell just short of the Cathedral Catholic Dons by a score of 60-57 on Tuesday. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Buccaneers, who fell 69-67 when the teams last met back in January of 2024.

Patrick O'Brien was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 11 en route to 20 points in addition to six boards and three blocks for Cathedral Catholic. Another player making a difference was Steven Evans-Glynn, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Mission Bay's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5. As for Cathedral Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. Augustine the next time they take the court. Cathedral Catholic will host St. Augustine at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mission Bay will head out to face them at 5:45 p.m. on January 21st.
