Softball Game Preview: Venture Academy Mustangs vs. Millennium Falcons

For the second straight game, Venture Academy will face off against Millennium. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Venture Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.

Venture Academy took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Millennium, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Falcons 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Savanah Espinoza made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Natalie Padilla was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Tiffany Bruss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Venture Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Venture Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Millennium, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Venture Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Millennium struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
