Basketball Game Preview: Trimble Tomcats vs. Athens Bulldogs

The Trimble Tomcats and the Athens Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Trimble is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Crooksville an easy 92-67 victory. The Tomcats have struggled against the Ceramics recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Athens didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Belpre on Monday, but they still walked away with a 58-54 win.

Athens' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Trimble, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Trimble strolled past Athens when the teams last played back in February of 2022 by a score of 59-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trimble since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
