Basketball Recap: Natchez Falls Despite Big Games from William Johnson and Daylan Haywood

Natchez won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They came up short against the Florence Eagles, falling 67-42. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 60-50.

Daylan Haywood and William Johnson certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Haywood posted 14 points, while Johnson put up 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamron Morgan, who had five points.

Natchez has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Florence, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Brookhaven the next time they take the court. Natchez will host Brookhaven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Florence will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
