Baseball Recap: Lennard Longhorns vs. Newsome Wolves
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lennard's offense. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 6-0 walloping at the hands of the Newsome Wolves on Tuesday. Lennard was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Newsome apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Lennard got a good showing from Pablo Garcia, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also didn't allow any walks). Garcia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Lennard saw one different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Montgomery, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
On Newsome's side, Braden Moon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Cash Peterson was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Lennard now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Newsome, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Lennard will be playing at home against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newsome, they will head out on the road to challenge Middleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Middleton: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Newsome has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
