Basketball Recap: George County Rebels vs. Greene County Wildcats
Even though the George County Rebels have not done well against the Greene County Wildcats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. George County came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats and snuck past 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Greene County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cordarius Molten, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Matthews, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
George County's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Greene County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.
George County will face off against the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hancock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rebels in Mississippi (the Hawks are ranked 96th, while the Rebels are ranked 213th). As for Greene County, they will face off against the Tigers at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Moss Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday.
