Basketball Recap: Shawnee Takes a Loss

Shawnee has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a blow against the Trico Pioneers on Thursday, falling 64-29. The match marked the Redskins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Emma Young was Shawnee's leading scorer, having posted 15 points. Eva Ford held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Shawnee's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Trico, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawnee will head out to take on Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trico, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sesser-Valier/Waltonville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sesser-Valier/Waltonville will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Trico surely won't give up without a fight.
