Basketball Game Preview: Family Christian Academy Mustangs vs. Gulf Coast HEAT

Family Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Gulf Coast HEAT recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Family Christian Academy Mustangs will be home for the holidays to greet Gulf Coast HEAT at 5:30 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, Family Christian Academy turned things around against The Classical Academy of Sarasota on Thursday. They blew past the Patriots, posting a 38-8 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulf Coast HEAT). They really took it to Out-of-Door Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-18 victory. Gulf Coast HEAT has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Gulf Coast HEAT found their leader in freshman Audriana Colten, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Colten a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Tuccy, who put up 12 points.

Family Christian Academy was dealt a bruising 61-25 defeat at the hands of Gulf Coast HEAT in their previous meeting back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Family Christian Academy was down 35-15.
